Although the standard procedure for many years was to wait until the third molars, or wisdom teeth started causing problems—usually in the late teens to early 20s—thinking has changed. The American Association or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons now recommend that wisdom teeth be taken out in the early to mid-teen years. A surgical procedure for a younger person has less potential risk, and the patient usually has better and faster healing capacity.
Attentive and caring follow up to treatment is a hallmark of our practice. Dr. Krueger calls each surgical patient the evening of their surgery. In more complex cases, we may ask you to come to our office post-operatively. We will also communicate your progress and the results of your treatment to your referring doctor.
We are equipped to treat patients with special needs, including people confined to wheelchairs or those with mental disorders. We treat every patient who comes to our office with courtesy and respect.
We think this is a wonderful and helpful idea! If you’re considering having a certain procedure, we will be glad to put you in touch with patients who have already gone through a similar treatment. It’s an opportunity for you to gain a patient’s perspective both on the treatment and on the care provided by Dr. Krueger.
Snoring can be a symptom of sleep apnea, a condition that can be harmful to your health. Dr. Krueger has a great deal of experience in evaluating and treating patients with sleep apnea.
We understand that even coming into a dental office can be traumatic for some people. To help patients with these fears, we offer pre-visit oral relaxation medication and options such as nitrous oxide and in-office sedation during the treatment itself.
Yes, we can use examples of patient photographs and computer images to help explain the treatments that we are suggesting. While your own results may not be exactly the same, the images will give you a very good idea of how your smile can be enhanced.
Dr. Krueger participates in over 100 hours of continuing education each year to stay informed about new developments in each aspect of oral and maxillofacial surgery including dental implants and anesthesia. He also is a co-founder, active participant and frequent presenter at the Kansas City Dental Implant Society, which provides continuing education opportunities for dentists. Dr. Krueger utilizes online continuing education through Dental XP as well as all oral and maxillofacial surgery and pertinent dental implant publications.
We do everything we can to protect our patients’ health and well being. Before treatment, we thoroughly discuss their health history with patients and consult with their physicians on any more significant medical problems. We have all the necessary monitoring and resuscitating equipment available to assist patients receiving anesthesia. In addition, all of our staff members have training in CPR. We also use state of the art sterilization equipment, with our sterilization center monitored by the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry. Wheelchair protocol is required when dismissing patients who have had IV sedation. A nurse anesthetist or hospital care are utilized for patients with extreme medical compromise.
Dr. Krueger is available to answer your questions directly any time that he is not treating a patient. If you have a question, please call the office; if Dr. Krueger cannot speak to you at that moment, he will return your call as quickly as possible. Don’t be afraid to ask anything; we do not believe there is any such thing as a stupid question when it comes to your dental care. We want to be an information center for patients and other doctors.
We welcome and appreciate referrals from our patients and from other dentists or physicians. The referral of your family and friends is our highest compliment.
Dr. Krueger is available 24/7 to treat patients with emergencies. If patients call the office (913-529-5999) after hours and leave a message with our answering service, Dr. Krueger will be alerted.
